A little experiment – “Sweet Tooth”
Mixed-media on 20 x 20 canvas
Somewhat raw, I admit.
The book, Creative Paint Workshop for Mixed-Media Artists by Ann Baldwin finally arrived earlier this week. It is very informative, with step-by-step procedure on how to start a mixed-media project, including what materials are needed. Perfect for a beginner like me.
So yesterday, I took a leap of faith, and started this little project. I thought about creating a little something for our kitchen, so recipes was the idea I began with, and ended with dessert! Once done, I learned: to use heavier gel medium, so my recipes cut-outs from the magazines do not crease as bad and use transparent color. (Ann wrote about the transparent color, but the scientist in me was rather in experimental mode!) Also, I should have textured the modelling paste in relevant to kitchen arena; waffle maker, meat tenderizer, etc. to stick with the theme.
In conclusion, I had extreme fun! It was rather addicting, that I could start another one right away!! With improvements in mind, of course!
